Theatre New
Brunswick is one of Canada’s oldest and longest running regional theatre
companies and is headquartered in Fredericton, NB. Our mission is to create extraordinary theatre
that inspires and entertains our audience while celebrating New Brunswick’s
best theatre artists; and to provide outstanding theatre training and
performance that educates and awakens the imaginations of our youth.
In March of 2011,
Theatre New Brunswick produced the world premiere production of Hockey Dreams, based on David Adams
Richards’ memoire of the same name. TNB did not take this challenge lightly,
and believed that any re-telling of this classic Canadian story would require
on-stage skating.
As a not-for-profit charitable organization, TNB faces the challenge of creating world-class
theatre on a fixed budget. Generally, an on-stage skating surface would be
deemed unaffordable. Because of the generosity of Glace Synthétique du Canada /
Synthetic Ice of Canada, TNB was able to create a masterful production. Not only did Synthetic
Ice of Canada provide their synthetic ice surface to TNB, but the product
delivered was of superior quality. The synthetic surface is simple to assemble
and is extremely functional as a skating surface. The results on-stage were
dramatic and visually stunning.
Theatre New Brunswick would recommend Synthetic
ice of Canada’s ice surfaces without hesitation.
